Please Note: All of our clinicians at Puzzle Peace are equipped to work with neurodivergent and autistic individuals. Their individual bios provide additional information about their training and specialty areas. We have a team approach to treatment and will often consult as a team to provide the best care possible for your family’s individual needs.
I believe the most powerful change can start with a mustard seed of hope and grow with support from the system around it. I am also a big believer in the power of kindness. Often I find that with the smallest glimmer of hope for change, we can fan it into something amazing and beautiful, given a little time.
How I can relate:
Children with special needs and the role of social and emotional health in education have been passions of mine since the beginning of my educational journey. I have had the honor of working within both Duval and St. Johns County school systems throughout my career. This has provided firsthand experience in witnessing the capabilities of tremendous growth in the most vulnerable communities through shared experiences and support. I consider myself a natural “systemic thinker” and can apply that systemic lens to a classroom, a family, a couple, a school, a business and any other group of people who impact each other. This is a lens I practice from when aiding clients in looking at the whole picture of a person’s life, not just facets like emotional and mental health.
I was born and raised in Ponte Vedra, Florida and am very familiar with the ins and outs of the community which aid in my ability to relate to clients. I recognize the power family can play within one’s life. Furthermore, I am active within my church community, and welcome explorations of faith within the counseling room.
Areas of specialty (What I do best):
My niches of my clinical experience focuses on children who struggle with issues such as ADHD, defiance, social-skills and anger. Outside of this realm, I also have experience working with children who experience anxiety and depression, Furthermore, working alongside parents on their parenting journeys and strengthening the parent-child relationship, especially in single-parent and blended families is one of my facets of expertise. I also enjoy the psychoeducational aspects of therapy, empowering clients and families to understand themselves better and improve their own lives. I utilize a strength-based approach, allowing clients to be the driving force of their treatment and growth.
My education and training:
I earned my bachelor’s degree from Florida State University in 2011 with a double major in Psychology and Religion. After some deliberation on how I wanted to further my education in the Psychology field, I attended Nova Southeastern University and obtained my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2015. I have since earned my License as a Marriage and Family Therapist and have spent a majority of my clinical years in this field working with children and families of all shapes and sizes.
